3762519596?profile=RESIZE_710xDo you usually read any business related or personal development books over the festive season, or do you have time off? And are there any books you plan to read in the new year?

Earlier this year, I created a Facebook group after seeing various discussions on different places asking people for book recommendations or what everyone was reading - the aim of the group was to be a place where these could all be discussed in one place!

Have some exciting plans for the group in 2020 - I'm looking at posting interviews with authors in the group, and organising networking meetings.

Everyone is welcome to join the group, discover what everyone else is reading, and share/discuss the books they are currently reading at:

  • Hi Simon, I was chatting to a client yesterday about reading personal growth books and it was fantastic. He was telling me about Mentor Box which I believe are summaries of an original BUT the summary is actually written by the original author. This works for me as I think they will know which points to stress. SO if anyone wants to read a book a week this might be a way to begin.

As for me over Xmas, I have discovered a very big book I will attempt to read called "A Little Life" written by Hanya Yanagihara.

I expect its a deep read, and I quote ... A novel of extraordinary intelligence and heart, a masterful depiction of heartbreak and a dark and haunting examination of the tyranny of experience and memory. Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2015.

    • Hi Tess,

Mentor Box sounds interesting - authors writing their own summaries also hopefully means that authors receive royalties for their work (unlike other services, including Blinkist which I mentioned last week in my Facebook group). :-)

"A Little Life" sounds like an interesting book!

  • Definitely! Time off means lots of reading!

    • Will you be reading any non-fiction books? And will that include Jack Bauer's autobiography? :-)
