Hello Everyone!

Good day all,

How are we all doing? Week 12 (I think!?) of lockdown and with some small changes to restrictions recently I can just about see light at the end of the tunnel. Despite this I am keeping grounded about the reality we are living in and also what the future might look like.

Has anyone taken up a new hobby over the last 12 weeks? I'd be interested to know. For those of you who know me, I am reallyinto my football, playing and watching, and it goes without saying I am missing it like crazy. My new lockdown hobby is...running. I am almost at the stage where I don't hate it :-)

During these times I feel like it is important to look back as a means of looking forward (this coffee has me thinking all philosophical :-)). I often look back and remember what socialising in large groups was like and how we probably all took it for granted, On the flip-side thinking of being able to see groups of friends and family again gives me the determination to stick to all the rules and guidance we have been given so at some stage we will be able to enjoy this again.

At Inspire we have recently released our 2019 Annual Review, check it out on our website: https://www.inspireptl.org.uk/news-media/annual-reviews

It really cheers me up looking back over the year and all the great things the people we support got up to and achieved. Like many other organisations in the sector we are adapting to these new norms but hopefully it's not too long until we can start to host our events again, amongst other things.

Speaking of events, I hope to see you all in the not-too-distant future at an ABN Networking event. Poor Andrew must be missing us big time! And, to be fair, maybe we are even missing him a little bit... I'll end on that emotional note ;-)

Stay safe and stay healthy.

Stuart

  • I do a fair bit of running but prefer going out in groups, which the lockdown has put paid to.

It's funny how other folks I know love the peace and quiet of running on their own - guess we are all different!

    • I don't mind either to be honest. Some days I feel like clearing my head and/or going for a PB which lends itself to solo running. Other days I can go with a friend or my girlfriend and have a slightly more relaxed one and a yap!

  • EPL is back from the 17th Stuart - Hang on in there!

    • Good point Mark! Hopefully it fills my football void. I had high hopes for the Bundesliga but I quite quickly became disinterested. I think the big one for me is the return of Scottish football and the famous Aberdeen. I can only get excited about my local team and country!

Who/what team are you most looking forward to getting back watching Mark?

      • Any football would be a welcome relief from the constant repeats on telly right now!

  • Thanks for sharing the annual review with the members and for your lockdown summary too. Well done on trying to find the positives - there are definitely some! And just to prove I read all the way to the end - of course I'm missing you all. Just not sure if anyone is missing me! ha ha

    • I'm sure there are plenty of people missing you Andrew! Not me, but plenty people. ;-) (I jest, of course)

      • I'm not so sure. Tried compiling a list but haven't managed to get any names on it yet

  • Hi Stuart, great to hear from you here! Well done on the running.. Something I tried and failed to love at the start of lockdown haha. Great review of the year too - well done to whole team and all the individuals involved

    • Thanks Jessie, I hope you are well. Running sure is hard to love haha. The feeling when you're finished a run is great it's just a struggle to get to that point! I look forward to decreasing my runs when I return to football albeit that is running too it just doesn't feel like it becasue of all the other things you have to focus your mind on!
