Miriam is regularly sent home from school due to a lack of fees and has accrued school fee debts. She lives with her mum and 3 sisters and her mum works very hard doing 12 hour shifts at a café for which she receives the equivalent of £1.50. Miriam’s youngest sister is 1 year old so her mum pays someone to babysit for half of each day until the older children come home from school and take over.

The income from the cafe cannot sustain the whole family’s basic needs such as food, rent and school requirements. The family live in a one room rented house which costs the equivalent of £15 per month and they have one double bed which they share. All being well, next year we plan to build them a new house as part of our volunteer house building trip.

For £35 per month we can clear Miriam’s school fee debts and ensure she completes her education.  You will be in regular letter writing contact with her, receive an end of year school performance update from ourselves and a Christmas card from Miriam. We would also make sure that you meet each other should you come on one of our two trips to Kenya each year.

Please email info@gathimbaedwardsfoundation.org if you are able to give Miriam this chance.
