Never work with kids and animals they say...

... and yet, I do both - AND I love it!!!

Good morning fellow ABNers!

I hope you are having a fabulous week so far. After a few years of absence from ABN, I would like to re-introduce myself. I am the woman behind the camera at Iska Birnie Photography.

Many people have asked me in the past, what do I enjoy photographing the most. I never have to think very long - hands down… Dogs and Horses… every time! If I had to pick between the two, probably dogs. I love how you can see similarities across the breed, but also how every dog is an individual, with their own personality and character traits. And that’s what I aim to capture for my clients.

But where do the kids come in; I hear you ask… Well, I also love photographing weddings! My favourite photos from a wedding, are often photos of kids ‘roaming’ around, totally unaware of me taking photos of them. Whether that may be playing with their friends, enjoying some treats from the sweeties table or falling asleep on daddy’s lap.

Anyway, back to actually introducing myself - I am, as you may have guessed already, an animal loving professional photographer, who loves being in the great outdoors. Whether that may be spending time with my horse Sam or being out in the Scottish Hills with my husband Chris. We also love travelling, unfortunately we don’t really get to travel as much as we’d like, but if we do, it’s normally for a pretty epic trip. This year, we’re heading to Nepal for nearly 3 weeks, to trek to Everest Base Camp. I am very much looking forward to this ‘holiday’ and all the amazingly stunning views of the Himalayas.

And that’s me in a nutshell… If you fancy knowing more about me or my photography work, please feel free to get in touch.

Thanks Iska

    • Thank you Iain. That would be lovely, I'll be attending the next M4 meeting - looking forward to it.

Oh Japan is on my bucket list as well, friends of mine were there last year and loved every second of their trip. I'm sure you will as well. Such an interesting country with loads to see!
