  • Making a connection with someone :)
  • Customer service for me is having the right tools and technology, which helps to make it a seamless customer journey experience when you contact a company. Having multiple communication channels is key and also allows customers to choose how they wish to contact you, and in their preferred method i.e. telephone, chatbot, online, messenger etc. A customer service agent, who can bring up all of the customer details and give a service in which the customer feels they are speaking to someone who knows them - will prove to be a memorable one.
  • Customer service to me is doing the small additional touches people don't expect. Calling when you say you will, responding quickly and being honest if things go wrong. People assume that everyone is fixated on price, but I have found more people want a fair price combined with first class customer service.
  • Welcome back! For me customer service tends to be about speed, efficiency and attention-to-detail. I would certainly like to feel wanted and appreciated as a customer and have the brand demonstrate some attempt to understand my personal needs. But, based on my recent hospitality experiences in Aberdeen (City, various chain restaurants) I'd settle for an ability to do what they says on the tin ;-)
  • Great comments so far - I would add that customer service is also about honesty - whether it is admitting that there are faults on your side or reminding your customers about their obligations to you.
    • Absolutely Helen.
  • Hi Ola

Customer service for me has, and always will be, the personal touch. I don't need above and beyond (although always welcome and acknowledged) but someone who shows genuine interests in my needs and how they can meet them. I often think, was their service the kind I would want my mum/gran to receive? That usually decides it for me. A big difference between working in customer service and delivering customer service!
    • Hello Tom. Thanks for your response. Really interesting concept you mentioned about working in Customer service and delivering customer service. Would like to hear more on the difference.
  • Hi Ola, Customer service is the key stage that is sometimes missed following a sale or touch point. To me its being on hand when people need you, delivering on promises and service agreed and as Carmen said going the beyond their expectations.
    • Hello Grant. Thanks a lot for your comment. True words. It’s a key stage that needs to be nailed right from the beginning.
