  • Morning Maggie. I work as a freelance business development specialist based in Aberdeen. I work with smaller companies who perhaps can't afford a full time BD person. I am usually focused on profile building, creating the sales message & getting that out, maximising what the company does and actively winning business. I have always enjoyed this side of the business since moving across from the engineering side way back. Great working with people in a team but having the license to use initiative and cut to the real point of business... getting results. Happy to meet you. My best regards, Iain

    • Hi Iain,

That sounds like a very varied job something which I also love as you get to meet so many different people over different sectors and hear about them all.

Do you have many whom you are represnting at the moment?

      Thanks

      Maggie

      • I have three clients at present. One closed due to the COVID situation, but we can keep the flag flying and the others are operating fairly normally. The issue for many will be establishing the status of their business as it existed on the start of lockdown, and those opportunities that they thought were going to convert to real business. Will their clients still be around and will those prospects materialise? Definitely at time to work together.

        • I would like to think or perhaps believe that the opportunites will still be there but unknown when some clients will be able to implement their projects I imagine a lot of work will be pushed back until such times as some security is restored to certain sectors.

I agree very much a time to work together and support each other to prosper at the other end.

if you would like a chance to catch up over a virtual coffee I would be happy to learn more about who you respresent and see if we can be of assistance to each other. My email address is maggie.mcmanus@turner-rental.co.uk if you want to send over some availability for the week after next Thanks

  • Hi Maggie,

I'm part of the telecoms industry supporting most industries. We're definitely seeing more activity in call volume and enquiries the past week or two. Folks are getting ready!

What do you mean by back up and running? Back to an office? Back to running a business? Back to full steam! Kids back to school?

Have you seen any strange or new requriements or sectors opening up that have surprised you?

    Gavin.

    • Hi Gavin,

Thanks for responding and glad to see you guys are also seeing some more activity, great to also see more industries getting ready to put themselves back to a new normal.

I mean back up and running as most companies/customers I have spoken to where on complete shut down and weren't doing any level of operations mostly construction related but some are now getting back to their offices and doing this safely which is great to hear.

I wish the kids were back at school might join them later in the year if the oart time home and school takes affect as I will need some refreshers before trying to teach my 11 year old son :)

There have been some requests for vehicles with perspect glass seperating the rear passengers from the front which given the current times shouldn't be strange but I don't think any of these requests are something we would have imagined coming up at the beginning of the year.

I think I was more surprised at some businesses within certain sectors who didn;t remain at a reduced level of operation at least, like garages, given the amount of vehicles which were on the road delivering but everyone else opening hasn't come as a surprise as they can do their operations safely whilst out in the open i.e. landscape gardeners.

Have you been working from home during lockdown? Are there any additional services you have been asked to supply which would have been a strange request at the begining of the year but starting to become the "norm"?

      Thanks Maggie
