The legacy of John Muir

I don't know about you, but I am appreciating the doors even more just now!  So lucky to live in the North East of Scotland!

Today is John Muir Day. I first became aware of John Muir, many years ago, living in California. Then years later, in Scotland, I introduced the 'John Muir Awards' scheme to my school and I am a member of the John Muir Trust.

Being in the outdoors, amongst nature, is something I never take for granted. The hills have always been where I restored my soul, but being in a forest, sitting by a river or just being in my garden also does so much to restore a sense of wellbeing.

John Muir led a fascinating life and I love reading of his adventures. He has left us with a wonderful legacy of quotes, which I do like to include in the And Breathe posts!

Today, on John Muir Day, take time to STOP! Go outside and appreciate the nature that is at your doorstep. There will be something to admire, you might just need to look very carefully! 😊💚

  • My son did a John Muir Award at school last year and he was doing another one again this year until the schools got suspended. We are lucky to live in such a wonderful place!
