Goals!

Sorry, not football!

Some of you may know I do a bit of running. On Sunday I ran my third marathon. It was the virtual Dublin Marathon, which meant the distance was run around Aberdeen with a good friend from my running club.

There were no crowds to cheers us on, no medal at the end and nobody knew (apart from our partners), when we finally hit the beachfront, just what we had achieved! It's taken months of early Sunday mornings, extremes of weather and long, long, long runs to get there.

So why did we do it then? Why does anyone take on a challenge? I guess I needed a goal to focus on, especially this year, and I wanted to try and improve on last time. Luckily, all the hard work paid off although it was one of the toughest things I've done!

So what goals, skills or targets have you been working on this year, and how's it going? Has the current situation actually enabled or pushed you to do things you otherwise wouldn't have done? 8086284287?profile=RESIZE_584x

  • Congratulations Jeanette, not easy at any time but even more so round a cold wet Aberdeen!

    • Indeed, but worth it in the end! Best of luck with your training too.

  • Well done!

    • Thanks Mark. Are you still running?

      • yes I am and happy to keep you company on some of your long run training if you need. I defo need goals for the motivation though - have a 24 hour race next year that was postponed from this year and just signed up to a 100 miler too

        • Wow, that's next level running! I'd be happy to have some company on the longer runs. I just hope I wouldn't be too slow.

You could keep the chat going by telling me all about these challenges you're doing!

          • Sounds good and dont worry about speed its not an issue on long runs, time on feet is more important. Let me know when suits - mark.lehuray@simblox-tech.co.uk

            • Thanks Mark. I'll drop you an email!

  • Ohh, I was just thinking about that! I am glad you went ahead with it anyway. Congratulations on such an achievement.

    • Thanks Susanne!
