Music versus COVID-19

Hi ABNers! As a huge lifelong music fan, it is an honour to work for the charity Alzheimer Scotland. Our Aberdeen Dementia Resource Centre deliver regular activities like Musical Memories, Name the Tune & Pop Up Parties. Music is proven to improve the well-being of people living with dementia, helping reduce common issues such as anxiety and isolation. I thought I'd share an article I recently wrote on LinkedIn about how music is such a huge part of so many of our lives, especially while we face up to adversity during these times. I hope it's something you can relate to and you enjoy reading it! does music mean to you? I'd love to hear any memories or stories of how music impacts your life :)I'm just finishing up today, as I have been place on furlough until 31st May (as it stands). Please feel free to add me on LinkedIn or follow Alzheimer Scotland'' Aberdeen & Shire Facebook page at: safe and see you soon!

  • Great article Michael and I totally agree that music can have a powerful effect on us. I know when I hear certain songs from the 80s, I'm instantly transported back to my youth and singing into a hairbrush whilst dancing around my bedroom!!

During the lockdown we have had the radio playing quite a lot and it does lift your mood....although I'm not dancing around the living room singing into my hairbrush!!

Stay safe and I look forward to catching up with you when lockdown is lifted.

  • Excellent article Michael (and have made sure I'm following in all places now!). Music will last much, much longer than this virus!
